DESCRIPTION:In May 2026\, three rural Texas libraries will come together t
 o host “A Time Before Texas….and Beyond”. From the Texas Paleoindian
 s of the Ice Age (16\,000 -10\,000 years ago)\, sabertoothed cats\, mammot
 hs\, and giant sloths\, to the disappearance of the Jumano Indians (1582-1
 799)\, who roamed the Edwards Plateau region of Texas and beyond.\n\nThis 
 exhibit will be hosted by the Crockett County Public Library (Ozona)\, the
  Schleicher County Public Library (Eldorado)\, and the Sutton County Publi
 c Library (Sonora)\, free of charge for all ages. Guest speakers are Dr. T
 homas Shiller\, a geologist from Sul Ross University\, and Thomas Ashmore\
 , president of the West Texas Archeological Society and a resident expert 
 on Jumano Indian history.\n\nAttendees will learn about the geology\, pale
 ontology\, flora\, fauna\, people\, and archeology of the Texas Ice Age an
 d beyond that make up this region of the Edwards Plateau. Pictograph stori
 es left behind by the Jumano Indians\, who came after the Ice Age\, will t
 ell of the lands they roamed and hunted in our counties\, including a visi
 t from the “Lady in Blue.”\n\nThis event\, geared towards grades 3rd a
 nd up\, will be the same at all three libraries. The mornings are for stud
 ents attending public\, private\, or homeschooled\, and their chaperones f
 rom the host town and surrounding communities. The evening events are open
  to the public from all communities. Schools may choose a library that wor
 ks best with their schedule/distance traveling\, the same for community me
 mbers. We kindly ask that you contact your preferred library to give a hea
 dcount for seating purposes in advance of the event.\n\nExhibit dates and
